During two May 2025 nights at InterContinental Edinburgh The George, the advisor appreciated welcoming staff and an upgrade from Classic King to a spacious Premium King in the newer building. The room had water views and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast and a dining credit were included in the booking, while wine and Scottish chocolate were thoughtful welcome touches. The New Town location gave easy walking access to Old Town sights and train and bus stations. The advisor ate at the hotel restaurant and found the setting beautiful and the food good rather than exceptional. They also recommended nearby Dome, Tattu and Makars Mash, advising reservations for the last. The bathroom felt tiny beside the large bedroom, and corridor carpets looked worn. The advisor preferred requesting the newer building after reading other guests’ complaints about water pressure in the older section; that pressure problem was not their own experience.
