The guests liked their room and the central location. Facing the hotel car park, it stayed quiet enough to sleep with the windows open even during Fringe. There was no air conditioning, though, and the windows opened only partway, so August heat made the room stuffy. A supplied fan helped, but they wanted more airflow. Still and sparkling water taps on their floor were a welcome touch. They found it a comfortable base for the festival.

A warm welcome set the tone for these guests. They liked being in the Old Town near Edinburgh Castle; the train and tram stops were walkable, although hills and stairs made them suggest a taxi with heavy luggage. Despite the busy area, they heard no street noise. Their spacious, spotless room had useful amenities, good bedding and a plaid blanket they enjoyed. They also appreciated the water stations for refilling the supplied decanter and their own bottles. Their one frustration was a thermostat that timed out overnight, leaving the room stuffy enough to wake a warm sleeper. Staff said the setting could not be changed. They would still return, but thought other warm sleepers should know.
