A family booking two rooms was disappointed by the compulsory New Year dinner charged for that stay: US$275 per adult and half that for children, with no option to decline. They first noticed the charge when the stay was billed before travel. The children were too sleepy to eat much when it began, and even soft drinks cost extra. The guest felt the compulsory charge was excessive and exploitative. Otherwise, the rooms and amenities were clean, and the small, partly enclosed seating areas outside the doors were pleasant for reading or a snack when it was not too hot. The garden-style hotel looked older, though the rooms had been updated apart from an unusual large, stone-looking oval bathtub sunk into the bathroom floor. It had a shower option but no shower curtain.
