During a June 2026 familiarization stay at Maroma, the advisor admired the exceptional landscaping, interiors and thoughtful details, including candlelit paths and open-air spaces. Excellent food and service supported a wellness-focused atmosphere that also welcomed families. Three pools, including a family pool, and the broad beachfront offered different ways to relax. The hydrotherapy circuit was included for guests during the visit. The advisor also noted activities on offer, such as making aromatic salts or guacamole and learning about stingless honeybees. The advisor saw appeal for romantic trips and families alike, but had a clear reservation: dining and spa prices felt extreme even for a hotel in this luxury category.

An April 2026 Maroma stay revealed a sharp contrast for the advisor between beautiful design and uneven service. Local artisan woodwork, textiles and the thoughtfully planned resort were highly praised. Staff visibly tried hard, but interactions felt stiff and mechanical, with repeated awkward mistakes. The beach and pool seemed understaffed, leading to long waits for water and towels. Food was good without reaching the level of Mexican cooking the advisor expected at this price and category. The advisor felt the operation still needed refinement to match the physical setting.
