During two nights at InterContinental Porto – Palacio das Cardosas in September 2026, the advisor and their partner appreciated the walkable location and responsive reservations and concierge teams, including help with outside restaurants. Their fourth-floor room, however, felt dated, especially the bathroom; a shower door that did not close properly allowed water onto the floor. The breakfast buffet was acceptable, with cooked eggs available but limited fresh fruit and vegetables. Welcome pastries and water were pleasant, while the in-room coffee notice limited complimentary capsules to six daily and quoted €2.50 for each extra. Overall, the stay did not feel five-star to the advisor. Dinner and drinks visits to The One Monumental Palace and The Editory Boulevard Aliados suggested a more elevated atmosphere at a broadly similar price.

During a November 2023 family stay at InterContinental Porto, the advisor loved the historic-center location and the Prestige Suite. São Bento station and major sights were easy to reach on foot. The suite’s two levels offered generous living and dining space, herringbone floors and stairs up to the bedroom; welcome food and champagne were appreciated. The Virtuoso benefits attached to the booking were delivered. Service, however, fell well below expectations: reception felt unwelcoming and getting help was frustrating. Construction directly opposite also made access difficult during that stay. Despite enjoying the suite and Porto itself, the advisor would not recommend the hotel to clients on the strength of that experience and would choose somewhere else on a return visit.
