Advisor stayed overnight
Reported visit · October 2026
During an October 2026 stay at Hartwell House, the advisor enjoyed a comfortable English country retreat filled with history. The advisor reported complimentary access to National Trust properties during the hotel stay as part of the appeal. Louis XVIII associations, carved stairs, portraits, drawing rooms and the former chapel bar gave the house character. The Queen’s Room had a four-poster bed, sitting area, deep bath, dressing table and two closets. Afternoon tea and the Soane-style dining room encouraged lingering. The roughly 90-acre grounds included a lake, a reused Kew Bridge span, tennis and activities such as falconry and garden walks. Indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna and steam facilities were appealing, but the gym was functional rather than modern, with older equipment. A facial was excellent. Dinner highlighted local produce and nearby wines, including scallops, fish and beef Wellington. The advisor also described combining a stay with Bicester Village, about 35 minutes away by car, with hotel transport available. Private shopping-lounge access, a 10% discount at participating stores and bag handling were described through a particular partner booking arrangement. The hotel suited heritage touring from London, with possible onward visits to sister hotels Middlethorpe and Bodysgallen. Children under six were not admitted.
