During a December 2025 birthday getaway at Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, the advisor loved a ground-floor East Beach room with a plunge pool and found that side especially quiet for a couple. Staff were quick to acknowledge guests and anticipate needs, and numerous birthday desserts, gifts and greetings felt thoughtful. Spa Botánico was a highlight, including a treehouse massage, but many of its best facilities were gender-separated, limiting shared time for a mixed-gender couple. Posi+ivo was the favorite restaurant; Coa impressed at breakfast but felt like a straightforward steakhouse at dinner, while Flor de Sal did not draw a second visit. The advisor felt dining choices could become repetitive for guests who did not enjoy sushi or Asian-fusion food. Rock barriers softened the rougher sea, but the beach offered limited play space for older children and occasional sharp rocks underfoot. Three attempts to reach the water-sports provider, both directly and through the concierge, failed, so the hoped-for surfing lesson never happened. Resort fees also added up quickly. The advisor still considered the resort exceptional for a stay centered on the property, with those practical limitations rather than a focus on outside exploration.
