The guests found transport arrangements smooth and staff ready to welcome them. Early check-in was not possible, so they received a town map to explore while waiting. Their beautiful, light-filled wooden room had complimentary amenities, a luxurious soaking bath, sandals and jackets for use around the property. Dinner was among the best of their trip, enhanced by an added wine pairing, and staff offered an American-style breakfast option. Service was excellent and the setting peaceful. Their warning concerned low-season dining: many nearby restaurants were closed or had restricted hours. On a rainy free evening, they believed hotel dinner was also unavailable. They found another restaurant, but noted that walking at night in rain could be uncomfortable where town lighting was uneven.

The guests liked the immaculate room, welcome drinks, helpful staff and good traditional Japanese breakfast with fish and seaweed. Dinner looked appealing but expensive, and they ate elsewhere rather than trying it. Arriving by bicycle, they felt staff were unfamiliar with cycling visitors and the Shimanami Kaido route; nobody could help use the Japanese bike pump. The sushi restaurant opposite was full when they tried to walk in. With few dinner choices, they suggest planning ahead, though they eventually found a good casual place a few blocks away.
