A May 2026 Awasi Atacama stay stood out for deeply personalised guiding, food and service. The same private guide met the advisor at the airport and stayed with the party throughout; plans were discussed before arrival and refined together on site. The twelve-room property felt rustic rather than sleek, yet comfortable and discreetly luxurious, with San Pedro walkable nearby. Excellent meals and thoughtful Chilean wine pairings were major pleasures. The advisor stressed that excursions involved driving, often an hour or more each way, and that high-altitude activities needed sensible pacing. There was no full spa, only in-room massage, and a small outdoor pool. Strong desert sun was another consideration. These limits did little to reduce the enthusiasm for an intimate, carefully tailored experience.
