The guests loved the peaceful, very clean hotel and especially its genuinely welcoming staff. Their room was directly over the water; watching tropical fish from the deck became a favourite activity. They liked the beaches, with snorkelling and paddleboarding at the hotel, and the easy walk to local restaurants. The historic atmosphere came with a spotless, comfortable, well-kept room. They would happily return.

The guests felt the beachside setting outperformed the service. They liked the man-made lagoon's clear water and soft sand for wading and found the small rooms adequate. Food was poor enough that they stopped eating on site after day two, and they disliked cocktails poured from sugary premixed cartons. Despite plentiful staff, service felt slow and unmotivated. Room service was a positive exception, while reception and concierge help disappointed them badly. They thought the hotel missed an opportunity given the good restaurants and colourful boutique hotels in nearby Pietermaai, though those alternatives lacked an on-site beach. They felt refreshed dining and service would be needed to compete as Curaçao attracted more visitors. On returning, they would consider a boutique hotel such as Scuba Lodge with taxis to beaches, or perhaps the more remote Sandals, which they had only viewed from a boat rather than stayed at.
