The guests praised staff who were ready for their early arrival and very accommodating. Although the hotel and rooms were older, the rooms were large and clean. Their difficulty was reaching the family suites on the third floor in a section without lift service: the many stairs were challenging for older members of their group. They managed nevertheless, liked the location and enjoyed the stay.

The guest and their daughter arrived during a hot spell and found no air conditioning. Staff stored their bags early in the morning, then let them into a room around 1 pm rather than the usual 3 pm and helped them to the fourth floor by lift. Their small twin room was adequate for two, but its window opened only a crack and it became very warm. One fan, then a second the next day, arrived promptly on request. Using Dublin as a base, they appreciated packed lunches for day trips and luggage storage during a two-night tour away. The location between O'Connell Bridge and the Ha'penny Bridge was useful for tour meeting points, although walks described as short took this guest 15–20 minutes. They enjoyed the hot and cold breakfast included in their package, pleasant service and good coffee. The airy main restaurant had friendly, helpful service and very good food, particularly chips and sticky toffee pudding. The one further criticism was live music too loud for conversation in the small space. They still warmly recommend the older hotel for its Irish character.
