The guests loved waking to the volcano view. Their room was very spacious and, in their opinion, could easily accommodate five people. Breakfast was very good. Since they found Kioro's springs not particularly hot, they appreciated having the option of a hotel shuttle to springs at a neighbouring hotel.

The guests thought the grounds were beautiful but found the extensive construction annoying. They understood the low-season timing, yet felt the experience was poor value. Booking hotel tours was difficult: on-site coffee and chocolate tours had no set daily timetable, required 24 hours' notice, and reception gave limited information on other outings. They reported extensive black mould in the room and bathroom, which they associated with an earlier air-conditioning leak and maintenance issues, including peeling bathroom paint with mould beneath. They praised kind housekeeping staff for towel animals and keeping surfaces clean and floors swept. The hot springs felt only lukewarm and all the same temperature. They liked the volcanic rock but warned that its rough surface could tear swimwear when sitting in the pools.
