After a July 2026 friends’ stay and inspection, the advisor considered Alila Kothaifaru a favorite among five Maldives resorts they had experienced. The island felt private and walkable without being too small, with genuinely warm staff and good food and drinks at fair prices. Their overwater villa was excellent. Beach villas offered more space but only outdoor bathrooms during this visit, a major drawback for someone uncomfortable with nighttime wildlife encounters; staff mentioned plans to enclose them. Two-bedroom accommodation and Boduge Residence looked useful for groups. Brief massages at a cocktail event were excellent, although the advisor did not book a full treatment. A small gym, padel, snorkeling equipment and reasonably priced paid excursions added activity. The advisor also praised the care given to Hyatt Privé guests and travel advisors, and wanted to return.
